Behind the Name

We thought, with the release of our logo, we would take a minute to explain the band name. Those of you that know us personally might assume it is a play off our last name, however, it goes a little deeper than that.

It is inspired by Pink Floyd's song "Pillow of Winds." The final lyrics of the song are:

"And I rise, like a bird, in the haze, when the first rays touch the sky, and the night wings die."

It feels so surreal to be at this point; from being three gamers playing Rock Band on stage together, to now having a logo and being a short time away from releasing our first song. We have had scribbles on paper and home-brewed recordings for several years waiting for the right time to jump, however, if you keep waiting on that "right" time, it never shows itself. There is always that next project, that next thing that takes precedence over everything else. Sometimes you have to just close your eyes and take the plunge into the unknown.

When you wake up in the morning the first rays are what you see. They are a constant in ALL our lives. They have been here before us and will continue to be for years after. We want The First Rays to be a constant in your life. We want to scratch that song itch that you have been waiting on. We want to be the album you throw on to dance in your living room, to relax on your couch, to have fun with friends, and everything else in between. We want to be a part of your lives and your memories. Take this plunge with us. Join us on our journey into waters unknown.

We are still finding our way along this journey and we are having a lot of fun doing it! Continue believing in us and what we can bring to the music world!
